“Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Moms Voices program and have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.”

Let me preface this post by stating I am a big Apple fan.  I own an iPhone, iPod, and an iPad.   I’m a dedicated user and I’ve long professed my love of Apple products.  I had no need or desire to change my phone.  My cell phone service has been very lackluster over the years, but I’ll get into that in another post.  Ultimately, I have been an iPhone devotee for sometime now.

Needless to say, I was completely caught off guard by how much I almost instantly loved my new Galaxy Note 3.  One could say, I started cheating on my iPhone for my Galaxy and now I’ve just divorced my iPhone all together.  Scandalous!  Let me also inform you, I’ve had my Galaxy Note 3 for about four days.  I can’t believe I ditched my iPhone so quickly.  It’s a little embarrassing…….

So what’ the deal? Why have I jumped on the Galaxy bandwagon?  Why did I even agree to try a new phone if I love my iPhone so much?

First of all, I agreed to work with Verizon to completely scope out their service.  I have connection issues.  Have I mention I live in the middle of nowhere? But I’m going to save my observations regarding service for another post.

Therefore, let me be clear my objective was not to switch phones, really. I mean, why would I? I own an iPhone……..but it became apparent after day two that the Galaxy Note 3 provided me at least three things my iPhone was not.

1. Size Matters.  I hate to break it to you, but it’s true.  Bigger is better.  I had no idea I was pouring over my iPhone, painfully attempting to type messages, pushing my glasses further back on my face in an attempt to see the little letters.  It was all I knew.  But as soon as I had the Galaxy in my hand……it felt natural.  It felt perfect.  And I suddenly became aware of how tiny and insufficient my iPhone really was.  Some people want smaller items.  They even make a version of this phone as a watch! But small is not better in my world.  That large, beautiful screen pictured above makes all the difference in my world.

2. Easy Operator. Now having had a little experience with androids I must confess they are not all intuitive to operate. And I was fearful that my new cell phone would be painful to use.  As I’ve already established I’m an iPhone gal, I’m schooled in the method of operating Apple products.  Obviously, androids don’t necessarily work in the same way.  But the Note 3 is the most intuitive android I’ve ever used.  It runs mostly like an iPhone.  That sounds silly, I realize.  If I want something to work like an iPhone, why not use an iPhone? I recommend you visit my first point above:)

3. Ready. Set. Go. Right out of the box, my Galaxy Note was fast and practically ready to go.  I manage four email accounts.  Yes, four.  It’s a bit much, but I operate two personally and two professionally.  It took a little setting up, but I now have three out of those four emails manageable from my phone.  I’m guessing I could also access my fourth via the phone, but luckily I don’t need to.  Within a matter of  few minutes I had everything I needed up and running via my phone.  I had envisioned the process taking eons, instead it took just a few moments.

Obviously, I have a lot more to unlock and discover with regards to my new phone.  I can’t wait to provide my insights regarding Verizon service.  Plus, I need to further explore the capabilities of the camera.  But after four days with my Galaxy Note 3 I am a changed woman.  I would hang my head in shame at my apparent ditching of my iPhone, but frankly I’m too busy texting with easy on my Galaxy.
